Request for a Copy from Weird Tales

I'm doing some research on the author Vincent Hayes Gaddis and I wonder if anyone can provide a scan or a photocopy of Gaddis' item "Special News Bulletin" from Weird Tales, April 1939. I hope so. It would be a big help to me.

  2. Wow!

Jesse, that was fast! Thanks very much. I was wondering whether the item by Gaddis is an article or a short story. The title led me to think it could be either. Upon reading the scans you provided, I find that it is indeed fiction, but it may have been based in a supposedly real, though Fortean, phenomenon. My research is on Gaddis as a Fortean author. This story fits in nicely with my thesis. Thanks again.

  3. I'm probably teaching my grandmother to suck eggs here, but just in case...

Not sure if the link works properly (although I've read plenty of stories on this site before, including one you reviewed) as my internet connection is very poor at the moment.

  4. Thanks, Aonghus,

I was unaware of that website. Seeing it makes me wonder: Has someone gained permission to publish Weird Tales on the Internet? Are these things in the public domain? Or is it a swipe?

  5. The site in question claims they're now in the public domain. I'm not familiar with copyright law in the states, so I couldn't say either way!

Funnily enough the blog which put up the link to this site also recommended you - 'Supernatural Tales' (a very enjoyable blog, although his primary focus is on horror). I assumed he'd got the link from your site, hence the grandmother quip.

  6. Thanks, Aoghus,

And sorry for the delayed reply. I really wonder about so many of these works that are supposed to be in the public domain.

I'll have a look at Supernatural Tales.
